Since 1971, Area Health Education Centers, or AHEC, have been providing medical educational, support, and services to rural and underserved communities across the United States, including right here in Florida. Launched in 1993, West Florida AHEC serves Okaloosa, Walton, Escambia, and Santa Rosa counties, and has recently joined the Crestview Resource & Community Development Center as one of our partners. Through a focus on outreach and training medical professionals, and through a strong partnership with the University of Florida’s AHEC program, West Florida AHEC has positioned itself as a leader in offering compassionate, community-focused care for those in need. Some of the services AHEC provides to Crestview area community members includes education on healthy aging, strategies for quitting tobacco use, guidance in navigating health insurance coverage, and continuing education resources for those interested in the medical profession.

Crestview area community members and neighbors can see medical professionals and community advocates with West Florida AHEC in-person and every month at the CRC.
